Details: Dutch passport holders that visit South Africa for holiday purposes or short business trips are exempted from visa control for entry to South Africa. Travellers, must be in possession of a valid passport on entry and a valid return ticket. It is important that while on holiday / business in South Africa the purpose for entry is only for holidays / short business trips. Should you wish to visit South Africa for another purpose, the appropriate permit must be applied for at our Consulate.
Holders of diplomatic/official passports are not exempted from visa control and must apply for a visa at the Embassy of South Africa in The Hague before departure.
Dutch citizens wishing to enter South Africa for other purposes. for example emigration, work, study or to seek work must be in possession of a permit to enter South Africa. Once again it is important to note that an application for a permit must be done at the Embassy of South Africa in The Hague before departure to South Africa. Applicants must await the results of their application in The Netherlands and are not allowed to enter South Africa pending the approval of their permit.
