U.S. Embassy, Consulates in Mexico only open for emergencies due to COVID-19 pandemic

As US embassy located in many other countries, US embassy and consulates in Mexico has suspended visa services due to the spread of the Covid 19. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate Offices in Mexico are effectively closing, starting Wednesday.

No visas, passports or asylum applications will be accepted in response to COVID-19.

In response to the global pandemic COVID-19, and in line with the Mexican government’s call to increase social distancing, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and all U.S. consulates in Mexico will suspend routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services starting March 18, 2020, and until further notice. The U.S. Embassy and consulates will continue to provide essential consular services to U.S. citizens as well as emergency visa services

Those with appointments will receive an email from the consulate with more information as they will only be open for emergencies.

U.S. citizens in need of 24/7 emergency assistance should call 81-4160-5512 (from Mexico) or +1 (844) 528-6611 (from the United States). Individuals who have appointments after March 18 may be asked to reschedule their appointments for a later date.

MANILA, Philippines — The U.S. Embassy in Manila has also postponed visa appointments until further notice following the Philippine government’s imposition of a Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine amid the coronavirus disease 2019  (COVID-19) outbreak.
